Obese men are fertile enoughIf you are hefty and are afraid of being infertile, as the studies conducted tend to link obesity and infertility, it’s time you relaxed. Many among us swear by scientific researches, here is another that delinks obesity and infertility. Nanette Santoro from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx has found that even those men who have very high body mass do not show decreased sperm counts or lowered sperm quality. This is pretty much contrary to the long held belief that obese men are not as fertile as the normal ones. During the study nearly 300 overweight men between the ages of 18 and 50 were subjected to observation and it was found that though many showed lower testosterone levels, their perm production was not significantly different from those of other men.
According to a recent study at University of Utah study found that enzymes in fatty tissue could convert testosterone into estrogen. However, this can happen only when testosterone levels are very low or the person concerned is morbidly obese.
Of course, it is just one of the many studies currently being pursued across the globe. And it is still too soon to conclude anything. However, it has been time and again emphasized by the researchers that sperm production is quite a robust process and is not that interrupted that easily. So, your sperm production mechanism might as well take your extra pounds in its stride. But then, lose weight nevertheless. After all, what good are your sperms, if no woman turns around to cast a second glance?

Interesting, isn’t it? They say don’t worry if you are a balloon because your sperms are doing fine. What’s use of those healthy little things when all they get to do is wrestle with each other. Right?

Thanks for the comment. Very encouraging, indeed. Appreciate it.

obese men have always suffered discrimination in this regard. Hope this news will make it it easier for them to get partners. But still, the fear will remain of getting crushed under their weight!
