The act of vandalism carried out on the BJP headquarters has been described as ‘premeditated act of violence’ carried out at the behest of DMK ministers. And the BJP has called upon the Tamil Nadu Governor S. S. Barnala asking him to recommend the dismissal of the Karunanidhi government. A BJP delegation met the Governor and handed over a memorandum to that effect.
BJP’s state president Ganesan announced state-wide demonstration tomorrow in protest of the attack and also said that the court will also be moved to ensure that the enquiry into the matter is conducted by the CBI.
The fury of the DMK party workers seems to be directed against former BJP MP Ram Vilas Vedanti’s disparaging remarks against Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
In this context the statement issued by Electricity Minister Arcot Veerasamy is being cited, wherein he had said that DMK would give a fitting reply to Vedanti’s ‘fatwa’ against Karunanidhi. Ganeshan said that it was this statement that instigated the DMK party workers to indulge in the act of vandalism. The attack was alleged to have been committed in connivance with the police.
The entire controversy seems to be an outcome of Karunanidhi’s disparaging remarks against Lord Rama.
